Can I just start out by saying how you don’t truly appreciate the gift that is internet until you don’t have it in your house? We’ve been waiting and waiting for the internet techs to install everything, and they were finally coming last week.
Oh, the excitement was real!
I would finally be able to post from home, no longer would I have to look up everything from my phone, and finally we could finish season 7 of Gilmore Girls! (Anyone excited about the Netflix Gilmore revival??) And then, the rain came…and came…and came. And then we received a phone call saying that our internet installation had been cancelled due to all the moisture interfering and blah blah blah. I’m normally very pro-rain, but currently, I haven’t been super crazy about Mother Nature’s timing. However, I can finally happily announce we have internet!! After being in our new home for a month, which by the way flew by, and having internet, I feel like we are finally getting settled.
Now on to what I really wanted to talk about today-A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about the “dirty dozen” list. The EWG also post a list called the “clean fifteen”. It is made up of conventional foods that are tested by the USDA and have come back with the lowest pesticide loads of all conventional produce. Because of this, they are considered the safest to purchase conventionally rather than organic. They are:
Sweet Peas (Frozen)
An easy way to remember if it’s on the clean list is if it has a peel or external shell. There are a few exceptions to this, but it fits for the majority. This means that the few pesticides that actually do exist in this group can’t penetrate through the outer peel to the inner fruit or vegetable. Bottom line-this makes buying these conventionally rather than organically a cost-effective choice. I don’t know about you, but I’m all about saving money anywhere I can while not compromising on the quality of what I eat!
